RESEARCH

Year /  Period Description
2013 Dr. William Gualtieri described/characterized  a  new  toxic  maculopathy,  which  was published (see publications) on International Ophthalmology.
2007 Dr. William Gualtieri conceived a way of translocating the AC-IOL to treat the UGH Sd., which was published (see publications) on “Ophthalmic Surgery,Lasers and Imaging” in 2008.
2006 Inspired by G. F. Hilton’s office based sutureless transconjunctival pars plana   vitrectomy (RETINA   22:725-732,   2002), Dr. William Gualtieri conducted  a  study  of  a  “minimally  invasive  P.P. V.  ”  for  selected macular and vitreous disorders, the results of which were published (see publications) on “Graefe’s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology”  in  2009.  In  2006,  he  preliminary  presented    this technique at the BEAVRS Congress, in London.
2004 – 2005 From Jan. 2004 as a co-investigator, Dr. William Gualtieri carried out a trial on the new “heavy silicon oils”. Outcomes were presented to Dec. 2005 at ASRS23th Annual Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 17-20 June, 2005.
1995 Dr. William Gualtieri  presented  a  report  on  the  subject  cataract  complications  and techniques for removal/exchange of posteriorly dislocated PC-IOLs at the “European Congress of Ophthalmology”.
1994 Dr. William Gualtieri took a particular interest in cataract complications and committed himself in researching techniques for removal/exchange of posteriorly dislocated PC-IOLs.
1993 As the principal investigator, Dr. William Gualtieri conducted an original, comparative,  prospective,  controlled  research  in  an  experimental retinal detachment on animal model to test a new photoretinopexy to lower  the  P.V.R.  incidence.  He  was  inspired  and  advised  by  Dr. William Smiddy, Bascom Palmer, Miami, U.S.A. on how to conduct the research. He presented study outcomes at the Italian Society Lasers in Ophthalmology”, in January 1994.
